HoYoverse’s space fantasy RPG Honkai: Star Rail nabs a win at Google Play’s best of 2024.
For the second year in a row, Honkai: Star Rail has won an award in the annual Google Play awards. This time, the game has won in the awards' “Best Ongoing Game” category.
The results were announced in an official Google blogpost on Monday (November 18), with Honkai: Star Rail notably being the only HoYoverse game to win an award in this year’s Google Play Awards.
Honkai: Star Rail previously won three categories in the Google Play Awards back in 2023, those being: Best Game, Best Story, and Best for Tablets. Fans received 800 Stellar Jade – the in-game currency used to acquire new characters and their equipment – as thanks from the developers for the big win, so it’s safe to assume that players can look forward to another reward with this year’s win.
However, Honkai: Star Rail failed to earn any nominations for this year’s The Game Awards, with Zenless Zone Zero being the only HoYoverse title to gain a chance at distinction with its nomination in the Best Mobile Game category.
Honkai: Star Rail version 2.6 was released on October 23 with a new 5-star character in Rappa, a new Trailblaze Continuance Mission that sees the Astral Express Crew return to Penacony, a new Simulated Universe game mode, and more. Currently, the version update is in its second half, with Acheron and Aventurine running alongside each other in a dual rerun banner.
Following Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.6 is Version 2.7 in December, which will feature the release of two highly-anticipated 5-star characters in Sunday and Tingyun's ‘Fugue’ form. The preview livestream for Version 2.7 is set to premiere this Friday (November 22), and is expected to reveal upcoming content for both Version 2.7 and Version 3.0.
Trailblazers can expect an upcoming major update to Honkai: Star Rail in 2025 with version 3.0, which will introduce a new planet in Amphoreus, alongside a host of new characters, content, and other additional features.
