Two Malaysian teams secured a place in the Playoffs in Day 4 of the Honor of Kings Championship 2024 group stage.
On the fourth day of the Honor of Kings Championship 2024 group stage, two Malaysian teams secured a slot in the Playoffs after a perfect 4-0 run through the stage so far. Team Secret and Black Shrew Esports both became eligible for a Playoff spot with a series to spare after they swept BOOM Esports and Impunity, respectively.
Team Secret got their victory over the Philippines Qualifier winner BOOM Esports. They completely dominated the series, getting a win in less than fifteen minutes in both games. On the other hand, Black Shrew Esports didn't get as quick a victory as they needed 20 minutes in game one and 16 in game two to secure the sweep over Impunity.
Black Shrew Esports' victory also spelled doom for Impunity as they have already been eliminated from the Honor of Kings Championship 2024.
Meanwhile, Team Vitality failed to follow up on their stellar victory over Kagendra in their first series in the tournament as they suffered a loss against the MENA qualifier winner, Team Falcons. This victory over the EMEA representatives gives Falcons a sliver of a chance to advance into the Playoffs. The only thing to do now is hope for Nova Esports to take down Team Vitality and beat Kagendra 2-0.
Meanwhile, Team Vitality will need to win over Nova Esports to secure a spot in the Playoffs, as a loss will mean they will be eliminated from the tournament.
In the Battle of Brazil, Alpha7 Esports claimed the right to call themselves the best in the Americas after taking down Influence Rage in a 2-1 victory. This back-and-forth battle truly deserved to be called the series of the day as they battered each other into submission, with the battle only ending after a little mistake by Influence Rage ended in their base's destruction.
The Honor of Kings Championship 2024 group stage day 5 will see Team Vitality continue to try and secure themselves a spot in the Playoffs as they will face Nova Esports in the opening match of the day. Revenant and Impunity have a chance to play without pressure, as both have been eliminated from the tournament. FUT Esports and Influence Rage will try to prolong their life in the tournament as they will face the Philippines' Blacklist International and Malaysia's Team Secret, respectively.
