Overwatch 2 gets new World of Warcraft anniversary skins

With the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft right around the corner, Blizzard Entertainment has launched a new crossover with Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 has certainly had its ups and downs in recent times, with players enjoying the fast-paced PvP gameplay for the most part - but really hating the microtransactions and skins pinned to it. With the transition to Overwatch 2, Blizzard seems to have doubled down on selling these cosmetics. Now, with the World of Warcraft 20th anniversary approaching, Blizzard has launched a new set of skins, as they bring more famed characters from the MMORPG to Overwatch 2.

Blizzard crossovers are definitely not a new concept, with Overwatch already having some WoW skins in place. This time around however, they will cost you a pretty penny. Previously we saw Blackhand Doomfist, Tyrande Symmetra, Illidan Genji, Sin’dorei (Blood Elf) Symmetra, and Magni Torborn. This time around will see Magni returning with a Diamon version of the skin, Sylvanas Widowmaker, Thrall Zenyatta, and Lich King Reinhardt – all of which can be seen in the video above.

While you can acquire all the new WoW x Overwatch 2 skins for 5700 Overwatch Coins - or $50 for the lot, you can also purchase them separately. The separate purchases will set you back around $26 for the bundles or $20 for the individual skins. However, the bundles or the “Mega Bundle” could work out better in terms of value, as Blizzard paid homage to a fan favourite moment in gaming history with a Leroy Jenkins voice line for Torbjorn (which can be heard at the end of the video).

Blizzard went on further to announce that from September 24 onwards, players will also be treated to the return of a few events in the game. Beast Hunt and Community Crafted modes are returning along with the April Fools 2024 event, plus Mirrorwatch and Prop Hunt. All-in-all, the crossover and anniversary events do look rather fruitful for those looking to get more content out of this season.
