Jane Doe's banner has arrived! Here's how you can optimise this unique anomaly unit in-game.

Were you one of the lucky ones to pull Jane Doe in Zenless Zone Zero? If so, then you must be wondering how you can fully build and optimise her so she can help you dominate through the higher stages of the game.

Jane is a powerful Physical Anomaly character in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), known for her high Assault damage and crowd-control abilities.

Jane excels in wide-area damage and controlling multiple enemies, but her effectiveness is limited against foes without an Anomaly Meter, and her best teams are not free-to-play friendly.

If you're wondering if Jane Doe is worth your polychromes, check this guide out.

However, if you’re keen on building her, this guide covers everything you need to master Jane, including her best build, optimal teams, Bangboo, skill priority, W-Engines, Drive Discs, gameplay strategies, and upgrade materials.

Though team compositions might be limited, you can still optimise her in various ways. Whether focusing on an Assault-centric team or pairing her with another Anomaly unit to trigger Disorder, this guide provides all the details you need.

Kit Breakdown

Jane Doe’s kit revolves around her core passive, which is essential for maximising her damage output.

This passive triggers a physical anomaly on the enemy, causing a flinch effect for 5 seconds. This gives you a critical window to attack without the fear of retaliation, making it ideal for mobile players who prefer to minimise dodging.

Anomaly Proficiency:

Her passive scales entirely off anomaly proficiency, not crit rate. Once you reach 420 anomaly proficiency, you’ll nearly hit a 100% crit rate, ensuring that every attack lands with maximum impact.

Paired with a character like Grace, Jane Doe can build this up even faster, amplifying her overall damage.

Passion Mode:

Jane Doe’s basic attack is crucial to her gameplay. Each attack charges a meter that, when full, activates Passion Mode. In this state, her damage increases, she gains a new dash ability, and her attacks chain differently.

This mode consumes the meter, so managing it efficiently is key. When in Passion Mode, holding down the attack button performs a spin attack, extending the duration of this mode and allowing for more damage output.

Anomaly Build-Up:

Her kit is designed to feed into her core passive. Every point of anomaly proficiency above 120 grants an additional 2 attack points, capping at 420 for a total of 600 extra attack.

The goal is to stay in Passion Mode as long as possible, similar to Jingliu’s Transcended State in Honkai: Star Rail.

Special and Chain Attacks:

Jane Doe’s special attack is best used when in Passion Mode, enhancing her overall damage. Her chain attack, activated by using her ultimate, fully charges the Passion meter, allowing for seamless transitions into her high-damage state.

Skill Priority

Jane's Core Skill should be your top priority, as it significantly increases her Assault CRIT Rate, making it essential to max out as soon as possible.

After that, focus on upgrading her Dodge, since you'll often rely on her Dash Attacks and Dodge Counters during combat. Once these are upgraded, you can enhance her Basic Attack and Special Attack to boost her overall damage.

Jane's Assist, however, is rarely used in combat, so it's not necessary to prioritise its level. Finally, you can save her Chain Attack for last, as it does provide decent damage but is not as crucial as her other abilities.

Best Build for Jane Doe

Best W-Engine:

Sharpened Stinger Sharpened Stinger

The best-in-slot W engine for Jane Doe is her signature weapon. It’s specifically designed to complement her kit, making it the optimal choice for maximising her potential.

Alt. W-Engines:

  1. Fusion Compiler Fusion Compiler
  2. Electro-Lip Gloss Electro-Lip Gloss
  3. Rainforest Gourmet Rainforest Gourmet
  4. Roaring Ride Roaring Ride
  5. Weeping Gemini Weeping Gemini

Best Drive Discs:

Freedom Blues Icon (2-pc or 4 pc): This is the best disc drive set for Jane Doe, providing a 330 anomaly proficiency boost, increasing crit rate and attack.

Fanged Metal Icon (2 pc, or 4-pc):  Fanged Metal increases physical damage, making it an excellent pairing with Freedom Blues.

  • Disc Main Stats: Anomaly Mastery or ATK, Physical DMG, Anomaly Proficiency
  • Disc Substats: Anomaly Proficiency, ATK%, PEN

This build provides a DMG boost to Jane and increases her Assault DMG. Jane would want a lot of Anomaly Proficiency to increase her Assault's DMG and CRIT Rate.

For those looking for flexibility, combining two-piece sets of Freedom Blues, Fanged Metal, and Hormone Punk offers a balanced build that provides additional attack and anomaly proficiency. This alternative setup can be particularly useful while farming for the ideal gear.

Best team compositions for Jane Doe:

Physical Team

In the latter stages of the game, some of the levels have enemies that are vulnerable to Physical attacks, or Assault. In this case, the best teammate for Jane would be Nekomata and Seth.

Jane works well with Nekomata since she can help increase the latter's EX Special Attack DMG via the Assault Anomaly.

For the last slot, you can use Seth to increase the party's Anomaly Proficiency and decrease the enemy's Anomaly Buildup RES.

  • Jane: Anomaly
  • Nekomata: Attack
  • Seth:Defense
  • Bangboo: Bangvolver

Bangboo Alternatives:

  • Luckyboo
  • Magnetiboo
  • Officer Cui

Disorder Team

Jane and another Anomaly unit like Grace can trigger their respective Attribute Anomalies and deal Disorder DMG. This might also work with other Anomaly units like Piper, but Grace is a superior option.

As for the third slot, you can use any Support unit or Seth. Any Anomaly unit may work well with Jane as long as they're not using the Physical element.

  • Jane: Anomaly
  • Grace: Anomaly
  • Rina: Support
  • Bangboo: Plugboo

Bangboo Alternatives

  • Electroboo
  • Magnetiboo

As a powerful Physical Anomaly character, Jane excels at dealing high Assault damage and controlling multiple enemies, but her effectiveness can be limited without the right team composition.

Whether you're leveraging her Anomaly Proficiency for massive damage or strategically pairing her with other units to trigger Disorder, Jane can become a formidable asset in your arsenal. With the right approach, you can maximise her potential and allow her to lead your team to victory.
