Genshin Impact version 5.2’s second half features two powerhouse characters in Neuvillette and Zhongli, with each excelling in their own niche while also being one of the most powerful characters in their respective elements.
Neuvillette is the Hydro DPS who has dominated Genshin Impact’s metagame since his release while Zhongli is still the unbeatable king of impenetrable shielding, and their strengths will surely be considered by players when deciding who to pull for. If you’re torn between these two, then we’ve got you covered! Here’s why you should pull for either Neuvillette or Zhongli:
Need THE Hydro DPS? Pull for Neuvillette
Neuvillete’s enhanced Charged ATK is something you definitely wouldn’t want to sleep on, as it is the reason he is the top Hydro DPS. The Iudex of Fontaine boasts a powerful kit focused on dealing massive amounts of damage through his Charged Attack, which sees him unleashing a powerful torrent of water that can wipe the battlefield clean at the cost of his own HP.
Neuvillette’s Charged ATK may take time to get to max power, but his skill and burst lends in hastening its charge-up time with the creation of Sourcewater Droplets, as well as refreshing a portion of his HP. He also has directional control during the duration of his Charged ATK, allowing players to spin to win when battling with enemies no sweat.
For veteran players, Neuvillete’s constellations are also something to gun for, specifically with his C3: Ancient Postulation which increases the level cap of his Normal Attack talent by 3, this includes his Charged ATK.

Need a shielder who’s capable of tanking everything? Pull for Zhongli
Zhongli may be one of the oldest characters, being released in all the way back in Genshin Impact version 1.3. But even after all that time, he still remains a top pick thanks to his nigh-impenetrable shield. If you find that endgame content like Spiral Abyss or Imaginarium Theatre is impossible to clear without some sort of protection, then Zhongli is the answer to all your worries.
Although Genshin Impact’s current metagame focuses on elemental reactions, something that Zhongli can’t contribute to due to his Geo element, it’s not much of an issue when you’re also invested in teams that don’t require elemental reactions. As such, Zhongli’s an ideal addition if you’re looking for a bump in your toughness and even some elemental resistance shreds.
Zhongli can also work as a crowd control unit through his burst, which petrifies enemies in a wide area-of-effect, making it easier for your DPS to destroy all those pesky enemies with Zhongli's support!
When it comes to Zhongli’s constellations, there’s no real need to get any. Zhongli works perfectly well even at C0!
Genshin Impact Version 5.2 dropped on November 20 with Chasca and Lyney headlining the first half's banner runs, as well as additional content with a new map expansion, a new boss, and an Archon Quest Interlude. Genshin Impact's version 5.3 update will most likely drop in early January 2025, with the Pyro Archon Mavuika, Citlali, and Lan Yan debuting as playable characters.
