A Horizon Zero Dawn remaster and Ghost of Tsushima sequel made this a rather surprising State of Play.Â
Sony Interactive Entertainment held a State of Play showcase this week, showing off trailers and announcements for tons of PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 games. Some of these announcements were quite surprising too, including a Ghost of Tsushima sequel called Ghost of Yotei, a Nier: Automata x Stellar Blade collaboration and a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster.Â
There’s a lot to go over here, but here are all the announcements and trailers you missed from the September 2024 State of Play!

Astro Bot DLC (Autumn 2024)
This week’s State of Play showcase opened up with a wholesome announcement: more DLC is coming for Astro Bot! This autumn, players will get to rescue 10 new bots - including ones themed after characters from Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2 - and try five new online speedrun levels.Â

The Midnight Walk (TBA)
The Midnight Walk is a creepy claymation game from the creators of Lost in Random at MoonHood Studios. This PS5 and PSVR2 game has players befriend a lantern creature called Potboy, and use him to light their way forward in a grotesque world.Â

Hell Is Us (2025)Â
This action-adventure game takes place in a post-apocalyptic dark fantasy world, where players have to fight creatures with holes where their faces should be.Â

Metro Awakening (November 7, 2024)
The next instalment in the Metro franchise is a VR game that takes players to the grim underground, where all kinds of monsters lurk in the dark.Â

ArcheAge Chronicles (2025)
If you’re looking for some good ol’ fashioned medieval fantasy action, ArcheAge Chronicles might do the trick. This game’s trailer shows off its world, monsters and combat.Â

Palworld (Out now)
Palworld took a break from fighting Nintendo in court to announce its arrival on PlayStation 5 consoles today.Â

Lunar Remastered Collection (Spring 2025)
The classic Lunar RPGS are returning with updated visuals, better audio and more improvements next spring. Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Complete are included in this collection.Â

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge (Out now)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge dropped a new Radical Reptiles DLC pack today, adding two new playable fighters:Â Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa. More music tracks have also been added to the game.Â

Sonic X Shadow Generations Keanu Reeves DLC (December 12, 2024)
Keanu Reeves and videogames - name a better combo. Sonic X Shadow Generations is getting a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC this December, featuring Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog.Â

Dragon Age: The Veilguard (October 31, 2024)
This trailer asks: what’s a Dragon Age game without dragons? Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches this Halloween, and we now have an extended gameplay trailer that features the Rook and their companions going up against a blighted dragon.

Alan Wake 2: The Lake House expansion (October)
Move over Dragon Age, the perfect Halloween game is here. Alan Wake 2’s second - and seemingly final - expansion focuses on a facility called the Lake House set up by the Federal Bureau of Control. This expansion seems to be horror-themed and might even feature the Hiss, returning from Remedy’s other game Control.Â

We got a meaty chunk of gameplay for Monster Hunter Wilds during this State of Play, ending with a release date reveal: February 28. That’s not too far away now! This trailer introduces three new monsters coming to the game.Â

Lego Horizon Zero Dawn (November 14, 2024)
This Lego game features the cast of Guerrilla Games’ Horizon franchise in brick-built form, with a story spoofing the events of Horizon Zero Dawn. A new trailer reveals the game’s release date and shows off new cosmetics for Aloy and friends, allowing them to dress up as PlayStation characters like Ratchet and Sackboy.Â

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (October 31, 2024)
Whether you think it’s necessary or not, Sony is remastering Horizon Zero Dawn to match the visuals from its 2022 sequel Horizon Forbidden West. The game’s often-criticised robotic NPC conversations have now been completely redone with new motion-captured cutscenes, patching up at least one aspect of the sci-fi game. If players own the original game, they can upgrade to this remaster for $10.Â

Stellar Blade x Nier: Automata (2024)
It was only a matter of time: Stellar Blade is crossing over with one of its more obvious sources of inspiration, Nier: Automata. The game is also getting a photo mode in an upcoming update.Â

Ghost of Yotei (2025)
Sucker Punch Productions has revealed its sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, and it’s a looker. This stunning game takes place 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, following a new protagonist named Atsu who picks up the Ghost moniker. The game is also set in Ezo, an area known in present day as Hokkaido, Japan.Â
