Honkai: Star Rail 2.3; should you pull for Jade or Argenti?

Source: HoYoverse

The second half of Honkai: Star Rail’s version 2.3 will boast the debut of Jade and the rerun of Argenti.

If you’re having trouble clearing Pure Fiction, the area-of-effect (AEO) focused endgame mode, then spending your Stellar Jade on this banner on either 5-stars will be well worth it! Jade is a 5-star character who follows the path of Erudition, with Quantum as her element and acts as an enabler and Sub DPS. Argenti on the other hand, is the premier Erudition DPS who deals Physical DMG.

Confused as to who you should pull for? Then read on!

Jade

Lady Bonajade, or simply Jade, is a senior manager in the IPC Strategic Investment Department and one of the “Ten Stonehearts”. Her Cornerstone is "Jade of Credit." She also works with both Topaz and Aventurine.

In regards to her kit, Jade Is the AOE version of Topaz. Both are follow-up attack enabler and Sub DPS characters, but what makes Jade different is that she focuses on AOE content, while Topaz works on single targets.

Playing into her role as a cold and elegant moneylender, Jade’s kit is centered around her skill, which lets her designate one ally as the Debt Collector. The Debt Collector receives a huge Speed buff and their attacks deal more damage at the cost of a small amount of their Max HP per attack.

Jade’s Talent synergizes with her skill by giving her 1 stack of Charge for each enemy target hit by the Debt Collector or Jade herself. When Charge reaches 8 stacks, Jade unleashes a powerful follow-up attack on all enemies. At the same time, Jade’s follow-up attacks give her a huge Crit DMG bonus of up to 120%.

Meanwhile, Jade’s ultimate deals damage to all enemies and enhances the follow-up attack from her Talent.

Jade works best with another Erudition DPS. While she can use her skill on herself, she doesn’t receive the Speed buff, so it’s better to use it on other Erudition characters, ideally Herta or Argenti.

Jade is best for Pure Fiction and other battle encounters with waves of multiple enemies, though this also means she isn’t as effective in Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadow which have fewer enemies present. However, if you want to use Jade everywhere, then you can invest in her E1 which increases the damage of the follow-up attack from her Talent and gives her bonus stacks of Charge when the Debt Collector only hits 1 or 2 targets.

Jade shines best with her signature Light Cone, but she also has plenty of good alternatives including the free 5-star Light Cone Eternal Calculus from Simulated Universe's Herta Store, Today is Another Peaceful Day from the Battle Pass, and free 4-star Light Cone The Seriousness of Breakfast from Light Cone Manifest.

Argenti

Argenti is HSR’s premier Erudition DPS, and he focuses on dealing Physical AOE DMG. Argenti is a classic knight of the Knights of Beauty, and he wanders the cosmos alone, following the Path of Beauty.

Argenti’s skill is a straightforward attack on all enemies present, but he shines the best with his Ultimate, which deals a huge amount of damage on all enemies at two levels. The first level activates at 90 energy, while the second activates at 180 energy. The second level deals much more damage compared to his first.

Because of his kit, Argenti has massive energy needs.  However, his talent gives him energy for every enemy hit by his attacks while also giving him a Crit Rate bonus of up to 25%, which makes the burden easier.

But teaming him up with Tingyun and Huoho can also alleviate much of Argenti’s energy needs, making both characters his best supports.

Jade also works well with Argenti, as she is the missing piece to forming his best team yet. If you want to unleash Argenti’s full potential as the most beautiful warrior out there, make sure to team him up with Jade as his Sub-DPS, Tingyun as his Harmony buffer, and HuoHuo as sustain!

Argenti works best with his signature Light Cone, but he can also do well with these alternatives: the free 5-star LC Eternal Calculus from Simulated Universe from Herta Store, Today is Another Peaceful Day from Battle Pass, and free 4-star LC The Seriousness of Breakfast from Light Cone Manifest.
