Gaimin Gladiators defeated Team Liquid 3-1 in the grand final of the ESL One Berlin Major to continue their tournament winning streak.
Gaimin Gladiators continued their rampaging streak in premier tournaments as they defeated Team Liquid 3-1 in the grand final of the ESL One Berlin Major to make it three tournament wins in a row – the Lima Major, DreamLeague Season 19, and the Berlin Major. I
n all three tournaments, the team having to settle for second place has been Team Liquid, which makes it a really tough loss for them.
The final day of the Berlin Major started with the lower bracket final game between Team Liquid and 9Pandas. After dropping the first game, Liquid came back to win the series 2-1 and set up an all Western European grand final, which has been the case at international tournaments for more than a few months now.
Gaimin GladiatorsvsTeam Liquid
The grand final started with a 44 minute game, which was even in terms of net worth for the first 25 minutes. But Liquid just could not bring down GG’s Terrorblade, who got too big and out of control. GG ramped up their lead and never let their foot off the gas pedal.
The next three games all ended around the 35 minute mark, and all of them had a very similar story. The team that got ahead maintained the lead and eventually took the game. There was not back and forth, there were no comebacks. Liquid won the second game, and lost the third and fourth games to lose 1-3. They did show a little fight in the final game towards the end, but it was too little too late. Gaimin Gladiators had all the answers ready to any questions posed by Team Liquid.
It's not easy to mentally cope with getting so close to winning a trophy and falling short at the last step repeatedly. The losses in the grand finals must definitely be hard to digest. Hopefully, they can put this behind them and come back stronger in the second half of the 2022-2023 Dota 2 season.
Gaimin Gladiators take home a hefty sum of $200,000 to add to their recent $300,000 winnings from DreamLeague Season 19. This is the team to beat right now – there is absolutely no one that can challenge them! They had the previous meta figured out, and they seem to be the ones who are adapting the fastest to the new meta evolving around Dota 2 patch 7.33. As we head into the DPC Summer Tour, the third party tournaments following the Bali Major and The International 2023 in October, every team in the international scene will be looking to solve the puzzle of how to defeat Gaimin Gladiators.
