Roman "rmN-" Paley will stand in for Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi who will be taking a break at the start of the new DPC 2021-22 season.
The first tour of the DPC 2021-22 season has just begun this week for all of the regions except China. As fans geared up to cheer (and in some cases jeer) the teams, Team Nigma is already making an adjustment to their lineup.
While the announcement is fairly vague, Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi did have some health issues last year and the announcement has some worried that his health is on a downslope once again.
When Aliwi “w33” Omar was removed from active status in April, he was reported to be the 6th man/substitute player. However, it seems that the team will be turning to their coach to play instead.
It isn't the first time that Roman "rmN-" Paley has stepped in to play with the roster. Team Nigma coach stood in for Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov at ONE Esports Singapore Major last year.
Team Nigma will be able to play only a handful of matches with a sub though according to the rules.
Can a team play with subs?
Yes - During a Regional League, a team can play with a sub for 4 out of the 7 matches.
Any team that competes in a Major tournament with a sub will incur a 40% penalty on DPC Points earned from that tournament.
A team that plays 5 or more Regional League matches with a substitute will be disqualified and any remaining games will be forfeited.
Team Nigma has not yet played any games for the new season. Their first series will be tomorrow, December 4th at 15:00 CET vs Team Tickles.
