Two of the three NA representatives for MDL Disneyland Major have been determined, the last will be decided late tonight.
Evil Geniuses and compLexity and sit and relax tonight, watching as four teams - J.Storm, Team Team, Forward Gaming and Team Xolotl fight for the last remaining NA spot for the MDL Disneyland Major.
Evil Geniuses went undefeated through the group stage and suffered only a minor hiccup in the playoffs when they lost one game to J.Storm. Of course, no one believed that the NA giants would have missed out on this major. They are currently sitting in 4th place of the DPC leaderboard rankings and have already secured themselves an invite to TI9.
compLexity Gaming was in the same group as EG and took their two losses from them. Other than that and once in the brackets, they showed a considerable amount of synergy and improvement in their play. They dominated over Forward Gaming 2:1 to claim the second spot. The team has struggled to find themselves since November when they took on three SEA players to fill in their roster — Adam "Adam" Shah, Yang "Deth" Wu Heng and Galvin "Meracle" Kang Jian Wen. Partly due to visa issues and complex problems with keeping their roster intact to scrim and boot camp together, the team seems to have now gained what they missing, including Murielle "Kips" Huisman as coach.
The final spot will be awarded to one team late tonight. The action kicks off at 20:30 CEST with the first round of lower bracket elimination series.
From May 4th to May 12th, 16 of the best teams will battle it out at Disney’s Newport Bay Club and Disney® Events Arena which has a seating capacity of 6,300. As the fourth Major of the DPC 2018-2019 season, teams will be competing for the lion's share of the $1,000,000 prize pool and 15,000 DPC points.
