Organizers at KeyTV experienced a violent hiccup with the departure of Fnatic, Evil Geniuses and Team Secret, and rush to find replacements.
Fnatic, Evil Geniuses and Team Secret’s departure from the event has forced Nanyang Dota Championships Season 2 organizers to improvise a way to replace them. The situation has evolved considerably in the past 72 hours. Fnatic has been replaced by LGD Gaming by a simple direct invite substitution. Replacing Evil Geniuses and Team Secret has developed into a much more complex fix. Here are the details.
Both teams that make it to the Grand Finals of the Chinese Qualifiers will be invited to the LAN playoffs. Therefore, the Grand Finals of the qualifiers will not be played, and Wings Gaming has already secured their invite. The last of the two Grand Final spots will be decided by the semifinal match-up between CDEC Youth and NewBee Young at 12:00 CEST. The winner of this series will replace Evil Geniuses. The loser will face-off against Vici Gaming Reborn in a battle for third place at 15:00 CEST. The third place winners will secure the final invite remaining as Team Secret's replacements. Sadly, the loser will have to go home.
All three teams that dropped from the event on short notice have been replaced by Chinese teams which increases the number of teams participating from the region to five.
