Poor results and continuous disappointments led to drastic action from the Russian organization. The entire Virtus.Pro Dota 2 team was let go along with the managerial staff.
Although they were the team that eliminated Secret and the only Eastern squad to place in the top six at last year’s International, Virtus Pro have experienced a long period of unsatisfactory results since August 2015. Placing 7th-8th at the first ever Major wasn’t a result to be proud of, but VP was one of the few CIS teams to stick together across two roster lockdowns and their first player change only happened ahead of the Shanghai Major. Unfortunately for them and their fans, Ilya 'Illidan' Pevcaev’s replacement didn’t bring better results at the second Major and from there on VP were on a straight decline. They failed to qualify for the Manila Major, placed 7th-8th at Epicenter and ESL One Frankfurt 2016 and eventually, lost the most important race, The International 6 qualifiers.
With almost two months left until the big post TI6 shuffle, VP’s CEO, Anton 'Sneg1' Cherepennikov, will step in and will handle the construction of a new Dota 2 team. According to the announcement made last night on their website, some of the players might remain with the organization and will be part of the new team.
Virtus Pro’s disbanded roster:
Ilya 'ALOHADANCE' Korobkin
Sergey 'G' Bragin
Maxim 'yoky-' Kim
Artem 'fng' Barshak
Alexander 'NoFear' Churochkin
