GosuRankings June report: Fnatic rules them all

What are the GosuRankings?

The GosuRankings is the most extensive player and team database in existence for CS:GO. Fueled by the GosuGamers tournament database which currently spans over more than 285 tournaments, the CS:GO rankings track teams’ career-long performance in all tournaments, qualifiers and show matches they take part in and appoints them a certain numbers. The rankings also take into account the so called “tournament importance” meaning winning the Major tournament means more than coming out on top of a weekly open cup.

Below, we take a look at the bigger events that happened in the month of May.

  • Note 1: May's results aren't solely responsible for the final rankings; they merely add to players' lifetime career performances.
  • Note 2: Tournament importance varies even within a particular tier (i.e. not all tier 2 events are equal)
  • Note 3: Tiers are NOT the official way of determining/naming tournament importance by GosuCrew. These are used so that some basic mechanics of the system are articulated better to our readers.

* This is not a comprehensive list of all events being played in June. We just highlighted some of the biggest ones.

World's top 3

All ranking numbers are as of  July 1st. It's possible that rankings have changed since publication.

Once again Fnatic is topping our editorial rankings. Although the month did not start off well for them (losing to Team Solomid in the grand finals of Fragbite Masters) they still managed to overcome this and come out even stronger. It just looked like the Danes were the only team capable of taking down the Swedish giants.

Fnatic managed to finish the previous month with an impressive 81% win rate. They had 25 wins out of 31 matches, which means that they have suffered only six losses. Following their great performance, olofmeister is widely consider as the best player in the current competitive scene. However, the rest of the Fnatic's players are not far behind him as we saw each of them giving their equal contribution to the team. The lost of their coach, devilwalk, didn't shake the team's performance and it's yet to be seen if they will come out even stronger.

Team Solomid, the only force which can currently stand the dominating Fnatic, has been left without much action during the previous month. The Danish squad decided to give themselves enough time to commit to the studies and exams. However, they still played the online portion of the ESL ESEA Pro League, which in the end brought them a lot of points on our rankings list.

The month started off really well for the Danes as they managed once again to take down Fnatic in the spectacular grand finals of the Fragbite Masters. However, that was the only offline event where we saw them compete in during the June. They finished the month with 66% win rate, scoring 21 wins, 2 draws and 9 losses. This was enough for the second place, since they showed a real consistency in the matches which they played.

This month we saw a change on the third place of our list. Team EnVyUs has taken the third spot from the Ukranian team, Natus Vincere. It was very hard to choose between those two as both of them scored one LAN title each, but the French team still showed more consistency throughout the whole month which brought them this spot.

Team EnVyUs played in the grand finals of StarLadder StarSeries, as well as in the finals of Gfinity Summer Masters I. They managed to win the second one, while in the first one they lost to Natus Vincere. However, comparing their win rate to Na'Vi's we can see a huge difference where nV had 67%, while the Ukranian team finished with 47%. nV had impressive 29 wins, 2 draws, but also 12 lost matches. Although, they were in a results slump we can still see that they are working properly on getting back on the track where they were during the last part of the last year.

Live rankings' top 10

We can see that there weren't really a lot of changes in the top 10 following the conclusion of the previous month. Only some teams exchanged their positions, but the top 10 is more or less the same with the exception of Titan who managed to snipe the tenth spot from HellRaisers.

Fnatic is still holding their first place very convincingly with 150 points more than Team Solomid. The Danish team will have to win the LAN finals of ESL ESEA Pro League in order to come closer to them, but this will be really hard as Fnatic is currently in a great form.

The third and fourth places teams are the same as in the previous month. Team EnVyUs and Ninjas in Pyjamas were both in slump during the first part of the month. However, the French team managed to overcome all the difficulties and to come out stronger, while their Swedish counterparts are still facing serious internal issues.

The next in line is Virtus.pro who have advanced one place, getting over Natus Vincere. Although Na'Vi won one LAN title in the previous month, VP still had more consistent result which have put them over the CIS team. Right below them is another very pleasent surprise of the previous month, Team Dignitas. The second best Danish team have improved a lot and they are now freely contesting all the tier one teams. This has brought them one rank up as they moved from 8th to 7th spot. Mousesports have also improved a lot with the recent roster change, but Dignitas still were more impressive and therefore Mousesports were left down at 8th place.

The best North American team , Cloud9, is currently holding the 9th position. The interesting fact is that Cloud9 has almost the same win rate as Fnatic, 80%. However, the most of these matches were played in North America. Finally, Titan has got themselves inside the top 10 as they advance one place, taking the spot out from HellRaisers.
