Greg "IdrA" Fields became historic earlier today after defeating Oleksii "White-Ra" Krupnyk and becoming the first to ever win an ESWC StarCraft event.
But it was no walk in the park for the only foreign in-Korea progamer, as he was defeated by the White-Ra, only Protoss in the tournamenet, in the initial round. Unable to maintain his 1-0 lead taken on Harmony, IdrA lost the consecutive two matches on Medusa and Chupung Ryeong.
Facing players of his own kind, Terrans, seemed to a more comfortable match-up as he came back in the Lower Bracket edging out a 2-1 win over Zhang Lu "Super" Ming, and then a 2-0 win over Seo Ji "ToSsGirL" Soo to reach the grand final where he won three games in a row against the Ukrainian Protoss to win the $5,000 first prize.
Chinese player Super suffered an early outing after a tough 1-2 loss against a cheesy ToSsGirL followed by a 1-2 loss to IdrA in the lower bracket. Ending in fourth place and outside the money is surely a performance the veteran Terran is not satisfied with.
Final standings
1. Greg "IdrA" Fields $5,000
2. Oleksii "White-Ra" Krupnyk $3,000
3. Seo Ji "ToSsGirL" Soo $1,000
4. Zhang Lu "Super" Ming
