Melty eSports Club has announced their closure

In a somewhat unexpected post, Melty eSports Club has announced their plans to shut down.

Melty eSports Club, the part of Melty Media that supported pro teams in a collection of games, will soon be no more. While Melty Media and their various other projects will still keep going, the decision has been made to stop investing in competitive players and teams. As such, they have or will soon be releasing all their pro players (ranging from CS:GO to Street Fighter) from their contracts. And as you know, Overwatch was included in that collection.

The French organization that will be quite familiar to longstanding Overwatch fans, was home to the first real Overwatch behemoth. During the first few weeks of the Closed Beta, Melty was by far the best (European) team, outperforming other teams because of their synergy and dedication to the game from the very start. They won quite a few GosuGamers Weeklies, as well as taking high places in other events. Unfortunately, as time went on it became clearer and clearer that their roster could not compete with the arguably more talented teams that started popping up. Several roster changes could not get them back to the very top of EU, but the team has been competing as a successful Top 10 EU team regardless.

The following Overwatch players are now sponsorless:

What these players will do next is yet unknown, but they will still be attending the Paris Games Week in two weeks. So if you are a fan of these iconic French players, then don't miss your chance to support them one last time!
