REUNITED is dropping 2Easy and looking to replace him in the hopes of climbing back to the top competitive tier.
Earlier today, Eric "2Easy" van Hoorn posted this tweet. A tweet that could be taken as a joke, but was actually completely sincere:
TwoEasy/2Easy should be known to most of you as one of the co-founders (and DPS player) of REUNITED. The team that started off years ago as a Battlefield roster, got signed by Fnatic, and then left Fnatic when they moved over to Overwatch at the start of the closed beta. After a number of offers from other organizations, the group decided instead to stay independent and search for sponsors themselves. This move turned them into the Astralis of Overwatch, a team with its players as co-owners and only stakeholders.
Since then the team has had its ups and downs, but has been a consistent contender for first prizes for the most part. They did however recently drop significantly in our GosuRankings, because of losses to teams such as Misfits, Rogue and Creation eSports. And it seems that this triggered REUNITED to search for a replacement of 2Easy, a player who has had to put school before esports for the past few weeks.
2Easy himself had this to say about the situation:
”I don't even know what to feel. I was streaming and was told there was a meeting so I quit the stream and then basically I got told they want to test new players instead of me for the next week. It all comes on a weird moment since I can finally play full-time now. I am still planning to play OW fulltime and competitively for a top tier team, let's see what wil come my way.”
So, while it seems there is still a chance 2Easy will return to the roster, he himself has told GosuGamers that he might not want to accept the invitation if it does show up. With the name that 2Easy has built up over the past months, it is maybe more likely that we will see him on a different roster soon enough.
We have contacted the management of REUNITED, but they refrained from commenting for now.
