Everyone and their dog knows about this super secret meeting-- we just don't know much else. With that in mind, let the speculation begin!
I think this tweet is about more than just caffeinated zerglings.
Anyone in the HOTS community who has recently scrolled through their twitter feed or seen this reddit post has heard “whisperings” from prominent community members of a meeting at Blizzard HQ in Southern California. We have Streamers, Pro Players, Team Managers, and Casters coming in from all over the world for this and so far none of my sources have been willing to divulge the details of the meeting. That means that I either need better sources or Azmodunk bribes just ain’t worth what they used to be. Thanks Obama.
What could it be?
The biggest thing we’re still waiting for is the Season 1 rollout with a Grand Master League ranking system similar to what Starcraft 2 uses. This would hopefully include some degree of MMR reset so that every community member can stop blaming the matchmaking system for their feeding. Blizzard has repeatedly stated that this is at the top of their priority list so it's possible that this is what the meeting is all about.
We’re also waiting for Arena Game Mode which Blizzard teased at Blizzcon 5 months ago. The dreams of Longboat Raid naval battles have long since faded for all but a few, and a few Quality of Life improvements like faster reconnection times would be most welcome. It's also worth noting we are right in the middle of the Summer Championship so this also could just be a big promotion deal for that.
If the claims of those invited to this meeting are to be trusted at all then we have, at the very least, an idea of the meeting’s scope. It involves people from basically EVERY corner of the community so I think it’s safe to say that whatever Blizzard is cooking up it’s gonna be big, it’s gonna be hyped, and it’s probably gonna be more than just a balance patch or new hero announcement.
