It took a victory in eleven games against Luminosity Gaming to push the European trio to the top.
With G2 Esports losing to Cloud9 on Wednesday, Feb. 2, only one team could hold a perfect 3-0 by the end of the third week in the ESL Trinity Series. Undefeated at 2-0, compLexity and Luminosity met on the night of Feb. 3 to dispute the leadership spot.

Both teams had shared very similar storylines during their time in the Trinity Series. Their opening week games went the full distance, while their next bouts ended in one-sided victories. As LG and coL prepared for a battle on top of the mountain, fans expected another long series.
While the ranking leaders did go to full eleven games, one could argue the series was won by compLexity much earlier. Queuing their aggressive Shaman into compLexity’s Anyfin Paladin and losing the favored match-up, LG were left with no good option to battle coL’s Miracle Rogue, a deck which they left for last. The last four games of the 11-game series represented and exchange of hard-counter wins until LG’s Jade Druid ran into the dreaded Rogue. An early 6/6 [card]Edwin vancleef[/card] was left unanswered and compLexity finally closed it out.
CompLexity will defend their undefeated status next Thursday, Feb 9, when the squad plays Team Liquid, currently at 1-2. A loss to the horseheads could mean a potential surrender of the leadership position to the winner of G2 Esports and Luminosity.
With Alliance, C9 and Virtus.pro also scoring their first wins in the league, there are no more win-less teams in Trinity Series, though at 1-2 and -6 tiebreaker score, both Tempo Storm and Alliance have a long road ahead before they can contest the coveted top 4 spot and a berth in the playoffs.
