A short announcement made clear that a slight change has been made to the Spring Championships' rules.
Last weekend, when Amnesiac won the Americas Winter Championships, he did so by playing in a Best of 5, Conquest with 1 ban format. Next time, however, he will have to go an extra mile in order for him to win the Spring Championships. In a short blog update Blizzard announced that the format for the Spring Championships will be changed to a Best of 7, Conquest with 1 ban format. This means that players are now required to bring 5 different decks, subsequently leading to more classes being played. It has to be noted that during the Spring Preliminaries, however, the format will still be the Best of 5 Conquest with 1 ban format which is currently used for the Winter Championships.
The change of rules implies that Blizzard is still experimenting a lot with the optimal format for competitive Hearthstone. Many players have expressed their favoritism towards the Last Hero Standing, 1 ban format. On several occasions Blizzard has responded to these preferences, stating that as of now they are still content with the performance of Conquest, 1 ban.
