The line-ups for this weekend’s event clearly show which is the most consistent and reliable class of them all.
Multiple heaps of $100,000 have been lined up this month for the series of Winter Championships happening for the European, Americas and APAC regions. Hosted in the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, these three eight-player tournaments will be the grand conclusion of the first of four Hearthstone Championship seasons which started in December last year.
The first on the schedule is the Americas Championship, happening this very weekend. Eyes are set on names such as Keaton “Chakki” Gil, a true veteran of the game, and Will “Amnesiac” Baron, a young Hearthstone prodigy and coach and practice partner for Team Archon. The groups for the event have already been drawn and are as follows:
While pairings for the opening matches are still unknown, the line-ups for each player have been made public and without much surprise Druid is the most popular class. To such an extent, even, that all eight contenders have included Malfurion in their line-up. Right behind him is Warrior, included in seven line-ups, where the question is how many of those are Patrons, Control or the new [card]Raging Worgen[/card] variations.
Compared to the HWC 2014 where all nine classes were represented in the finals, only seven are now present in the Americas Championship, with Hunter and Priest getting no love at all.
