The dates are February 26-28, the place – the PGL studio in Bucharest.
For the third time, PGL will bring their Hearthstone tournament to Romania, but this time it won’t be on the big DreamHack stage. Instead, the organizers are keeping it in-house, hosting the event at their Bucharest studio. Tavern Tales spring will arrive at the end of February to give out the first HWC points for the spring season. A total of 43 points will be split between the top 8 players to go with the $25,000 prize pool.
As HWC tournaments are required to be completely open, a pair of online qualifiers will be held this month to determine the 32 players to fly to Bucharest. The main event itself will consist of five-round swiss stage into a top 16 cut-off for the playoffs. Last Hero Standing is the format of choice.
Currently, the PGL crown is carried by local Romanian player Andrei “Hanniballz2” Militaru who took it from inaugural champion Stanislav Cifka after triumphing in the Winter event in Cluj-Napoca in November.
