The roster under TiddlerCelestial’s captainship was crowned the best in China yesterday, beating Yolo Miracle 9-3.
For fans of Chinese Hearthstone, last night’s Team Story grand finals between Team Celestial and Yolo Miracle came as no surprise. The two teams have consistently performed in their region. Yolo Miracle’s legacy dates all the way back to the days of the NEL, which they won twice. On the other hand, albeit being a newer team, Celestial acquired the majority of talent in China since their founding in April 2015 and was deemed by many the scariest roster in the region.
Celestial’s undisputed victory in the regular season put them in prime position to win the Team Story playoffs as well. With the final bracket being played in “bubble race” format, Celestial had to win just one series to take the $48,000 winner-gets-all prize pool. To challenge Celestial, Yolo Miracle had to go through Edward Gaming in the second round of the race, outracing them with a 9-7 score.
Although each team had to bring a roster of four to the series, it took Celestial only two players to win the finals. Caoyuan ended up becoming the MVP of the final match, going 7-1 in his games with 3-1 on Druid and 4-0 on his control Priest. Rosicky, SleepyShaman and Robin each took a game for Yolo Miracle, putting their team on the scoreboard before the final 9-3 in Celestial’s favor.
Between its victory in the playoffs and eleven wins in the regular season, Team Celestial banks a total of $65,185, starting 2016 on a high note.
