GamersOrigin are set to host the first Hearthstone team tournament that gives everyone a shot at the prize pool.
The days after the ATLC finals have been quiet in regards to any following team leagues. Archon’s massive project featuring a $250,000 prize pool ended in a roaring success after upwards of 100,000 viewers gathered to watch the finals as the best teams on the Hearthstone scene sparred for a chunk of the meaty ATLC bank. Tournament’s conclusion, however, left the question whether any other team league west of China will be attempted before the arrival of ATLC’s second season next year.
French organization GamersOrigin are looking to fill that gap, launching the Hearthstone Super Brawl next month. Although their own team league is dwarfed before the six-figure prize pools of ATLC or China’s Hearthstone Team Story, it comes as a unique opportunity not just for professional players, but amateur ones as well.
Unlike the full invitational nature of ATLC or HTS, the Super Brawl will feature an amateur division alongside its professional one. A maximum of 128 teams of four players will be thrown into a swiss round, from which only the top four will exit. These four teams will go head to head with another four coming from the professional round-robin division in a classic David versus Goliath scenario.
Confirmation on attending professional teams is still pending but the organizers have already reached out to Fade2Karma, Liquid, G2, Dignitas, Cloud 9 and Na`Vi, among others.
