Blue haze, broken ice, coming right after The Grand Tournament. Are we getting Icecrown Citadel?
The tease campaign for BlizzCon has begun and Hearthstone fans are about to shiver in excitement. Winter approaches and with it Blizzard’s bits and pieces of hype surrounding new content that might be coming to their card game.
With the start of every ladder season, Blizzard usually reveals the card back reward for it, but not this time. Not fully, at least. Their latest tweet shows a blue question mark over what seems to be an icy field, saying the November card back will be revealed at BlizzCon.
Now, that could very well mean it’s just a regular card back, but that’s unlikely. BlizzCon is reserved for big announcements and common sense dictates this card back will be special, probably tied to “what’s next” in the works for Hearthstone, which is also the title for the Friday panel.
Of course, speculations are already being made and fans seem to think this is trumpeting the arrival of Icecrown Citadel as an adventure expansion, and that would certainly make a lot of sense. If Blizzard follows the November announcement/early December release schedule they applied to GvG, it would mean we’ll get the next adventure next month. Not entirely coincidentally, December 8th marked the launch of the Icecrown Citadel raid in World of WarCraft, allowing players to start the fight against the Lich King’s armies.
Despite being jagged, the timeline of events also hints towards Icecrown Arrival. The iconic raid of Wrath of the Lich King was preceded by the Trial of the Crusader event, whose comedic, Hearthstone-y version was launched earlier this year.
