The 40 players have been seeded based on their placement in the final HWC standings and will compete in a double elimination bracket in the next few weekends.
The top 8 players have been given two byes in the upper bracket: Maverick, Rdu, Xixo, Lifecoach, Pavel, Hoej, Ostkaka and Kolento will thus start in the third round. Everybody else will start at the beginning and fight for the privilege to face the titans of Europe. Each player in the octet will also need only two wins to secure his spot in the next phase of the tournament.
Once the 40-man bracket is done, the top 8 will be seeded into two double elimination groups. The top two of each will earn their spot in the 2015 World Championship and fight in one final four-man bracket to split the lion’s share of the $25,000 prize pool.
Overall, the bracket is a healthy mix of big names and up-and-comers, after the Last Call Qualifier became a slaughterfest of known players. Among the more established competitors to start in the first round are Cipher, Freakeh, Neirea, ThijsNL, Orange, Thefishou and others and who are also among the favorites to top the bracket.
The tournament starts tomorrow at 14:00 CEST.
