UPDATE 31.08: Team Archon have released an official statement regarding the departure of their two players.
UPDATE 30.08.: Archon management confirmed to GosuGamers that the reason for Xixo's release has nothing to do with streaming hours. The official statement for the departure of Purple and release of Xixo will come later today.
Archon looks to be cutting down its roster even more, as sources indicate towards the departure of Sebastian “Xixo” Bentert from the team.
The first reports of Archon scaling down came yesterday as James “Firebat” Kostesich first talked on his stream about the release of resident coach Ryan “Purple” Murphy-Root. Purple joined Amaz' team in March this year to strengthen the line-up and the results of Archon’s players since have definitely improved. Between March and now, Archon players have made it to fourteen tournament grand finals, including major events like ESL Katowice, Gfinity and SeatStory Cup. Firebat’s words were later confirmed to GosuGamers by Archon management, saying that a formal statement shall arrive soon.
It’s possible, however, that this statement will contain not only the reasons of Purple’s departure from the team but also of another Archon player in Sebastian “Xixo” Bentert. The German player known for his multiple high finishes in online tournaments – most recently finishing first SCAN Invitational #2 and ROOT Invitational #2 – joined Archon in January and has brought the team a total of three gold medals and two notable top 4 finishes at SeatStory Cup III and OGN Korea Season 3. As with Purple, the reasons for Xixo’s release have not been made official yet, but GosuGamers sources hint that it could be because of Xixo’s sporadic stream schedule.
Archon management told GosuGamers they will be making an official statement later today.
