What is China playing post TGT: Nine decks that conquered Celestial Series #3

The qualifiers for the $25,000 Celestial Invitational are ongoing, and the most recent one happened just after TGT launched. Here's what champion Chaoshen played.

The Celestial Championship Series (CCS) started earlier this month, providing yet another opportunity for Chinese players to hone their skills. Organized by Team Celestial, the tournament will feature a total of eight online qualifiers for the local Chinese scene, which will determine eight players to move on to the main event.

So far, three qualifiers have been held, mostly seeing up and coming starts take the coveted seed. Shadowy and Zoro were the two champions of the pre-TGT era while Chaoshen took the first post-TGT qualifier last night.

CCS is also one of the rare opportunities for the western world to take a peek into the Chinese Hearthstone scene. With TGT having just launched and with China being known for wild decklist experimentations, one has to be curious what the best players in the region are playing.

It turns out that TGT is yet to dramatically affect the established metagame. The nine decks used by champion Chaoshen in the last three rounds of the tournament had little to no TGT improvements, as he was seen playing standard Freeze Mage and Patron Warrior in some of the games. In fact, heavy TGT presence was only felt in his Paladin and Shaman.

All that said, here’s the list of Chaoshen’s nine decks on his way to CCS #3 win.

Quarter finals:

Inspire Paladin
Patron Warrior
Bear Trap Midrange Hunter

Semi finals:

Ramp Druid
Chromaggus Handlock
Oil Rogue

Grand finals:

Freeze Mage
Confessor Paletress Priest
Midrange Totem Shaman
