The $250,000 Archon Team League will have its Satellite bracket played out this week, starting with Archon versus Tempo Storm at 19:00 CEST.
The biggest tournament of the year so far is rapidly approaching its last stage. Four teams have been placed in a double elimination bracket but only two will move on to the live finale.
The Satellite phase will begin with rivaling teams Archon and Tempo Storm going against each other. After a slow start in the regular season, Tempo Storm managed to recover with the help of resident analyst and coach Jokull “Kaldi” Johannsson and finished fourth with a 4-3 record and +4 tiebreaker score: the exact same result as Team Archon.
This will be Tempo’s chance to get revenge on Archon after their 4-6 loss in the regular season. In the last weeks of the regular season, Reynad’s team has displayed better stability in its line-ups and plays, which was instrumental to their rapid rise through the rankings. T/S also looks to have an advantage in terms of the updated card pool. Known for being a roster of revolutionists and unorthodox deckbuilders, Tempo Storm could greatly benefit from the recent release of TGT.
The second semi final match will see Nihilum go up against Forsenboys. Lothar’s team was one of the favorites to make the live finale right after the regular season but a series of losses had them fight for survival in the Redemption round against Team Liquid, where they survived by the skin of their teeth. Nihilum won the previous encounter 6-4 despite being down 1-4 at the start and will be looking to extend the record against Forsenboys to 2-0.
As five matches in total will have to be played in this round, ATLC will feature an extended schedule, broadcasting on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, starting at 19:00 CEST each day. The top two teams from that bracket will join Value Town and Cloud 9 in the live finale in Texas.
