The trio of Lifecoach, Rdu and ThijsNL has yet to drop a series in the biggest team league of Hearthstone.
Nihilum’s performance in ATLC has been among the highlights of the league so far. The team’s first two matches were anything but easy, but no team has found a way to defeat them yet, with Archon losing 5-6 in the league opener and Celestial going down 4-6 in week two.
A large part of Nihilum’s success lies on the shoulders of Dima “Rdu” Radu. The Romanian youngster has acted like the team’s closer in all three weeks, coming in to win the closing Bo1 and ensuring the victory for his team. Rdu’s job was especially difficult in Nihilum’s last match against Team Liquid. By game seven, Nihilum were down 2-5, having to defeat Jeffrey “Sjow” Brusi’s Patron Warrior four times in a row if they were to take the win. A difficult task, considering they were going against the top deck of the metagame, played by one of its best pilots.
But the reverse sweep somehow became a reality. Even though he had lost the first three games he played against Liquid, Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy performed when needed and helped equalizing the score with the aid of Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk. At 5-5, Nihilum had to only send Rdu forth as they’ve been doing it in the past and watch him bring it all home.
At 3-0 and +4 tiebreaker score, Nihilum are the current leaders of the league, followed closely by Value Town, (2-1, +5), Team Archon and Forsen Boys (both 2-1, +2). On the opposite side of the standings sits Team Celestial at 0-3 and -8 as the worst team in the tournament so far. This could almost be counted as a surprise, considering the team hosts the Chinese powerhouse Xieyu “TiddlerCelestial” Wang, #1 in the GosuRankings at press time, and ESL Season 1 winner Austin “SilentStorm” Li, established champions both.
