Archon's Team League is about to get some competition as GamersLeague are launching their own Hearthstone project.
Dubbed OKS.gg Hearthstone League, this new tournament coming mid July will populate the competitive landscape even more. Following the steps of Archon's Team League as well as older team league projects such as the NEL over in China, the OSK.gg league will feature eight teams in ongoing competition.
What this means is that we're about to get even more Hearthstone content as the summer unfolds. Even if we put the monstrous $250,000 endeavor by Jason “Amaz” Chan and co., there's still a whole lot of ongoing online tournaments, including Vulcun's individual league, PVP Live's HPL and more. Slated for July as well, OKS.gg will have to maneuver around a stacked schedule, in hopes to win over a share of the Hearthstone market this summer.
Unfortunately for OKS, the premier Hearthstone teams are already reserved for the ATLC and they're hosting the league with what people could consider the lesser tier teams. The names of London Conspiracy, Dactyllion, SK Gaming, Method, mYinsanity, Luminosity and more are in that roster and while most are established brands in esports, they're nowhere near the fame and success of the like of Cloud 9, Archon or Nihilum.
This doesn't mean there won't be any high-caliber players competing in OKS.gg. Luminosity, for example, boasts the talent of DreamHack champion Stanislav Cifka, alongside Hearthstone old-timers Impact and Ignite. Between themselves, the other teams include names such as Alesh (mYi), Inderen and Sottle (H2K), Numberguy, Freakeh, AKAWonder (SK), Hawkeye (REG), Max (Method) and more.
The prize pool of the league is yet to be locked down.
