Former Innovation and Lucky Draw captain Theude is once again a free agent
After just over two months of existence, the Lucky Draw pro team comes to an end as the players go their separate ways.
When Lucky Draw decided to expand last November and sign four new players, including starts from the disbanded Team Innovation, things were looking more than good for them on paper. Captained by former Team Innovation leader Tim "Theude" Bergmann, the roster had also acquired the talents of Adian "Lifecoach" Koy, Karlis "Karlis" Petersons and Aris "Beherit" R, as well as pulling Tom "Wuaschtsemme" Mühlbauer from the "casual" division.
Although the team would still be considered one of the smaller ones in terms of collective renown, its players managed to deliver nonetheless. At the end of November, Lifecoach placed fourth in the highly stacked DreamHack Winter, losing in the semis to eventual runner-up Thijs "ThijsNL" Molendijk. A month later, Karlis brought home the first gold for Lucky Draw, defeating David "Dog" Caero in the Battle of the Best II grand finals.
In spite of that, the roster wasn't meant to stay together. Around the time of Karlis' triumph, rumors appeared of Lifecoach possibly leaving Lucky Draw to join a new team together with ThijsNL, Dima "Rdu" Radu and Jakub "Lothar" Szygulski. Twenty days later, the rumors became a reality and with Nihillum Hearthstone's founding, Lifecoach said goodbye to his former team-mates.
Yesterday, the remainder of the Lucky Draw pro roster also parted ways with the organization. Theude and Karlis will remain free agents for the time being, looking for possible teams to pick them up. Their former Innovation team-mate Beherit will join the all-Greek Elysium, while Wuaschtsemme will move to Lucky Draw's second team, re-joining Moonstar, Timbolt, Grenan, Hit-Girl and Gameking.
Team owner Garry "Gunny" Leusch' statement reads:
Team Lucky Draw is not willing to support the politics many different organizations run at the moment. A lot of professional Hearthstone players have changed their teams during the last few weeks and still do, but Lucky Draw believes in long term partnerships.
Players Wuaschtsemme, Moonstar, Grenan, Gameking, Timbolt and Hitgirl are still within the team and will play tournaments under the banner of Lucky Draw.”
