Gaara sweeps his way to NESL throne

[deck linked style=float:right;margin-left:15px;margin-bottom:10px;margin-right30px;]617[/deck]The winning streak of Gaara in big moments continues, as the German takes down the NESL King of the Hill competition by storm. Two quick 3-0 sweeps make him the first European king of that series.

German player Gaara seems to be on a roll this couple of weeks, stringing together championship victories with ease. After his dominant DreamHack Bucharest performance, the member of Tempo Storm followed it up by climbing on the throne of the NESL. As the invited player, he first knocked out Chonqi in the play-in matches, before demolishing Amaz in a DreamHack Bucharest semifinals rematch.

The victory this Tuesday was so dominating, that Gaara only had to reveal one of his three submitted decks to get to the crown. Only his Ramp Druid, a deck that wrecked havoc in Bucharest already, was shown to the public and proved to be impossible to get by. First, it demoralized Chonqi, who brought two aggressive decks - a Hunter and a Warrior - to the table both of which crushed into heavy taunts and weren't able to do anything.

The only real close match between the two was the opening bout, were both tried their luck with Druid. The two opponents were fairly even midway through the battle, when the luck ran out on Chonqi, who proceeded to get pretty bad draws in his Token Druid. Gaara on the other side unraveled his total strength in the later portion of the game and was unstoppable with an Army of Trees walking over him.

So it was rematch time on the NESL stage - King Amaz against DreamHack Champion Gaara. Both players started out with their famous classes, Gaara once more bringing his Ramp Druid to the dance, while Priest King Amaz relying on the power of Anduin to carry him through the battle. Unfortunately for the Hong Kong king, the healing power of Priest proved to not be enough. Once more Gaara's draws were good and the quality of units on consecutive turns was just too much for the Priest to handle - not even mentioning the Faceless Manipulator play on a Sunwalker.

Amaz tried his best in the process with Hunter and his control Warrior, but Gaara was just on another level this day. Two more clean and decisive victories and Gaara was crowned the first ever European king of the National ESL. The $500 USD purse, the first ever flawless record to get on top and a automatic title defense are the perks he is receiving now. The rest of the field has to hope for an invite or go through the Sunday cups to earn a spot.
