DogeHouse player Janne "Savjz" Mikkonen tweeted a few hours ago the Ramp Druid he used to reach #11 on NA and #13 on EU.
Known for being an apt constructed and ladder player, seeing Savjz high in both North America and Europe should not be a surprise to those following Hearthstone. What should be, to some extent, is what the Fin used to climb the rankings - a revamped version of Kolento's ramp Druid.
The ramp build has been somewhat overlooked by the major part of the Druid players. Since the days of StrifeCro's cookie cutter builds, Druids have been known to either run either mid-range, defensive Watcher or token builds (most relying on Force of Nature/Savage Roar combo for a bursty finish) and only a few players dared use it in competitive environment.
Today, Savjz tweeted that he made it to top 15 of both the NA and EU ladders by revisiting said style of play. The deck has all the ramping spells in Wild Growth, Innervate and Nourish, meta answers like Big Game Hunter (against Handlocks and control Warriors), and eight end game threats which can hit the board earlier than usual thanks to those rampers. Older Hearthstone players will see similarities between this build and the old ramps from the early beta days, when the Druid class was still struggling for recognition and for becoming a tournament staple.
Legend rank #11 NA, #13 EU. I think I'm done for this season. Played my version of ramp druid (inspired by kolento) http://t.co/OcRYUMUDhy
