Infamous and PG.Barracx eliminated from Galaxy Battles II

The first day of the Galaxy Battles II has come to an end, bidding an early farewell to Infamous and PG.Barracx.

After much ado heading into the event at the Philippine Arena in Cuidad de Victoria in the Philippines this weekend, Galaxy Battles II went off without a hitch showcasing six series.

First on the agenda was Team Spirit who were in top form and completely wiped out the local favorites -TNC on their home turf with a 2:0 stomp.

VGJ.Thunder  then took the series 2:0 from Infamous, the second match being especially painful for the South American team as they seemed to be in control for most of the game and a bad team fight around 35 minutes in completely turned the game on its head and gave the momentum, approximately 15k gold lead and victory to the Chinese team.

PG.Barracx had the unfortunate luck of seeding into their first professional and high caliber match up against the North American giants - Evil Geniuses. A quick and decisive two game win for EG sent the wildcard team to the lower brackets for one more chance to make waves.

Armed with coach Sébastien " 7ckngMad" Debs and Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann in place of Johan "n0tail" Sundstein and Gustav "s4" Magnusson, OG went head to head against paiN Gaming featuring standin player Aliwi "w33" Omar. The South American team gave the Europeans a good fight and resistance as it was the only upper bracket series that went to a full three games with one being almost 60 minutes long. In the end, OG had reverese sweeped paiN to press on in the upper brackets another day.

All eight teams competed in the first of the double elimination brackets. With the first four teams dropping into the do-or-die best-of-one elimination series in the lower brackets, two teams were then eliminated already.

TnC fought hard to keep their tournament dreams alive and knocked out Infamous after seizing the victory in 35 minutes.

The last series of the day saw the Indonesian team fighting for their tournament lives against the other South American team. PG.Barracx looked to make some headway into their match, taking an early lead, but being outdrafted and with experience on their side, paiN Gaming took the game and ended the wildcard team's run at the event.

The action continues tomorrow, January 20th with the upper bracket series between Team Spirit and VGJ.Thunder at 10:30 local time/03:30 CET.
