ESL One Genting closed regional qualifiers are scheduled to run just a few days before Christmas in five regions, with the Chinese qualifiers scheduled for the end of the year.
ESL One Genting is the biggest Minor of the Dota Pro Circuit. Not only that it has a $400,000 prize pool and 400 qualifying points to offer, but it will also feature a 16 teams line-up. Eight teams have been already handed direct invites to the event, with one more special direct invite still waiting to be unveiled. This leaves seven qualifier spots up for grabs, China receiving two spots, with the rest of the five regions getting one spot.
A total of 12 teams per region will play the regional qualifiers. Each regional has eight teams invited and four more joining via the open qualifiers which will take place this weekend, December 9-10. All the regional qualifiers will be played in a single elimination bracket format and the eight teams invited to fight for a spot at ESL One Genting are split into tier one and tier 2 invites. Tier one teams are getting a small advantage and will start from the second round of the bracket. The regional qualifiers in CIS, SA, NA, SEA, and Europe will take place December 19-22 with the Chinese qualifiers following up from 28th to 30th of December.
