The DOTA Summit 8 has made a big surprise reveal, inviting Evil Geniuses to attend the event as an unexpected 9th team guest.
Only one day after the last team, compLexity Gaming, had qualified and what fans thought solidified the lineup, BTS opened the last and frontmost door on their Summit Countdown picture.
Adding the 9th team to the circuit brings along an entirely new format. There will be a group stage with three groups that will lead into a wildcard phase, followed by a playoff stage. The groups will be played in a best-of-one format where two teams will be eliminated. The third place team with the most points will advance to the wildcard phase along with the second place team of each group. The first palce team of each group will jump forward immediately to the playoff stage where they will be joined with the winner of the wildcard phase. Both the wildcard and playoffs will be best-of-three single elimination brackets.
The new BTS minor will be taking place from December 13th-17th in Los Angeles, California at the BTS house with no live audience. The event will feature a prize pool of $300,000 and 300 TI8 qualifying points.
