In an unexpected turn of events, Fnatic’s captain and founder of the Dota 2 team, Chai 'Mushi' Yee Fung has left the organization.
Chai 'Mushi' Yee Fung’s decision comes in very turbulent times for Fnatic, who are struggling to find stability ever since after The International 6. “The SEA scene would not be as competitive as it is now without your presence. You have lived up your name as a legend and I hope you continue to do so in your future team” said Fnatic’s Manager Eric 'reinnnn' Khor Wei Soon in his official statement regarding Mushi’s leaving.
Judging or reinnnn’s words, Mushi is most likely to join or perhaps found a new team which might not be SEA based. At the same time, Mushi himself said in his statement that he is not sure about his future plans, however, he is definitely looking forward to “a new environment”.
Chai 'Mushi' Yee Fung official statement:
At the moment I'm leaving Fnatic as a player. I'm not sure about my future plans ahead yet, but I'm looking forward to explore into a new environment ”
Whether Mushi will leave the SEA scene entirely or not remains to be seen. Fnatic, on the other hand, is determined to continue on building a team almost from scratch. Despite their shared history, together for over four years, Mushi and Chong Xin 'Ohaiyo' Khoo will split up now as Fnatic’s offlaner will remain with the team. Fnatic stands right now with two players, Ohaiyo and Kim 'Febby' Yong-min, who joined the squad in the 2017 Spring Shuffle. “We’re thrilled that Ohaiyo will be continuing the team’s endeavour, joined at his side by our newest player, Febby. Together with Reinnnn and Kipspul, they will now look to a brighter future as they contemplate a new roster” said Fnatic in their press release.
