Ad Finem will be traveling to LA this Sumer for The Summit 5 LAN event as Virtus.Pro admit that they had Vega Squadron’s carry Vladimir 'No[o]ne' Minenko playing in game four of the EU qualifiers Grand Finals, without informing the tournament admins.
The Grand Finals were disputed on 29th of May between Virtus.Pro and Ad Finem and were interrupted for more than 15 minutes during the third game of the series, when Ilya 'ALOHADANCE' Korobkin lost his internet connection. At the end of the 10 minutes rule pause VP asked for an extra two, stating that ALOHADANCE had gone to an internet café to play and was waiting having requested a code to enter the game (presumably the Steam authentication code).
Ad Finem used their reserved pause time to help Virtus.Pro but at the end of a total 20 minutes wait Aloha didn’t come back and the game resumed. Shortly after, the Greeks took the game and the lead in the best-of five series with a 2-1 score.
At the start of the next match Virtus.Pro claimed that Aloha’s internet is back and they could play normally, and even ALOHADANCE himself tweeted “now my internet works “.
VP drafted a Juggernaut for their carry and pushed the series into a decisive game five. But as the game progressed the community started discussing the match in a reddit thread created to point out the uncharacteristic item build made by Aloha and even the usage of a different slot for the Teleport Scroll, a strong hint at different key bindings.
Last night VP released an official statement in which they admit they broke the tournament rules and announced via twitter their withdrawal from The Summit 5.
Beyond The Summit also announced via twitter that Ad finem would take VP's place as the European qualified team for The Summit 5 LAN event.
