The crew at Beyond the Summit gave DotA2 fans another reason to look forward to December: they announced the dates and some details surrounding their next tournament, The Summit 4.
Amongst the revelations surrounding the tournament, there was one significant change from the previous Summits: open qualifiers via FACEIT. While much is still to be revealed in future updates from Beyond the Summit, the hype for The Summit 4 is already building.
On the 18th of September, Beyond the Summit announced on their website that their popular tournament series, The Summit, will enter its fourth incarnation shortly. The live finals will be held in Los Angeles from the 9th to the 13th of December. The eight top teams will be competing for an initial prize pool of $100,000, which will grow through purchases of a Compendium and chest created for the tournament.

Arguably the most interesting part of the announcement was the fact that The Summit 4 will utilise open qualifiers via FACEIT. On the weekend of September 26 and 27, teams from Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Americas will battle it out, with the top teams from each region receiving an invite to their region’s Regional Qualifiers, which will start on October 1st. Here, they will face the teams directly invited by Beyond the Summit for the chance to play at the main event in December. A heartening detail of The Summit 4 is that all teams that qualify for the main event are guaranteed to win prize money. No one will be leaving empty-handed from The Summit 4 main event.
So, if you feel you have what it takes, sign up for the Open Qualifiers here.
