Two Western teams have reached the Grand Final of WEC, as Evil Geniuses took down both NewBee and ViCi Gaming in their respective best-of-three series with a 2-0 score. They will now face Cloud9 in the final match series tomorrow, with Cloud9 getting a WB advantage.
The second day of the WEC LAN finals belongs to the past, and the two challengers for tomorrow's Grand Final have been decided. The first is Cloud9, after their comfortable 2-0 victory against ViCi Gaming in the WB finals. Evil Geniuses managed to survive the complete Lower Bracket, taking down both NewBee and ViCi Gaming in the process to claim the second Grand Final spot. The two Western challengers will battle for the first place tomorrow, September 7th, at 10:30 CEST.
The tournament has an unusual double Grand-Final system :
- Cloud9 emerged from the WB final and they earn an advantage - this means that they only have to win one best-of-three match to claim the first prize.
- Evil Geniuses reached the final from the Lower Bracket - this means that they will have to win two best-of-three series to finish first.
