Team DK beat Chinese rivals NewBee to take an $8,005 prize for coming first. After a clean slate through the rest of the tournament DK took the best of three series 2-1.
Team DK manage to defeat NewBee in a best of three Final, taking the series by two games to one despite NewBee having been on excellent form recently. They advanced easily through the all Chinese tournament beating TongFu and Dream Time in the group stages and going on to take a 2-0 victory over Speed Gaming to meet NewBee in the final.
NewBee started out promisingly taking the first game with their Brewmaster, Razor, Doom, Naga Siren, Disruptor line up. Mushi and Mu had an interesting match up mid with Sniper taking on the Brewmaster. DK had a high damage and lockdown combo with Ancient Apparition, Faceless Void and Viper, but it didn't prove effective enough to take on the very strong teamfight oriented line up from NewBee.
Game two was not as convincing for NewBee, as DK drafted a similar line up, but with a few crucial adjustments. They put Burning on the Void this game, giving the hero the hard farming role. They kept the global damage combo with Ancient Appartion, but gave Mushi Templar Assassin and IceIceIce an offlane Nyx Assassin. These last two picks managed to create space sufficiently for the Void to farm and eventually it was just too much even for the strong Shadow Shaman/Death Prophet pushing combination of NewBee.
In the final game NewBee tried to beat DK at their own game by picking up the Faceless Void and Ancient Apparition themselves with Mu again on a mid lane Death Prophet. Unfortunately they could not make the line up work as effectively as DK did the game before. IceIceIce took the sneaky Nyx Assassin in the offlane once again, Mushi in mid with Razor once again dominating the early stages of the game to give Burning his comfort zone of farming up on the Naga Siren.
