DreamLeague groupstage concludes, Na'Vi forfeits their final match against EG

The groupstage of the ASUS ROG DreamLeague tournament has officially concluded, with Na'Vi forfeiting their last battle against EG. Their default loss means that the possibility of a three-way tie has been avoided and six teams will advance to the offline playoffs.

Earlier this week, the final match of the "Super Weekend" of ASUS ROG DreamLeague was postponed. Na'Vi claimed that their mid player Daniil 'Dendi' Ishutin was facing high latency issues, probably caused by a DDOS attack against the player. The organization agreed to move the match to another date, but Natus Vincere announced today that they will not proceed to battle EG. Thus, a default loss was given to the Ukrainian squad and the season-play stage of the tournament is officially over.

As the leaderboards show, the top six teams will be travelling to DreamHack Summer to partake in the tournament offline playoffs. With a victory against Evil Geniuses, Na'Vi could have gathered the same amount of points as Fnatic and Alliance, eventually forcing a tiebreaker to determine the 5th/6th placers, as the head-to-head results between the three squads cannot designate the two winners. However, with Na'Vi forfeiting their match, the three-way tie possibility has been averted; Fnatic and Alliance are in the playoffs.

The official statement by Natus Vincere:

Admins offered restart since the second pause. At that moment, we lost the most lanes to EG, but mid was lost exactly due to Dendi’s lag. The team would be ready to play again even in this position but the disputable death of the courier meant the total domination of EG in the beginning of the game and the practical impossibility of normal game for Na `Vi. It’s a pity for guys that the last important game of DreamLeague ended in this way and they are grateful to the administration of the tournament for the attempt to solve this problem anyway.

The finals will take place from June 14th through 16th. No official information has been released yet about the format of the LAN stage. It should be noted that the prize pool for this season's DreamLeague is currently about $240,000, and has surpassed the upcoming ESL One in terms of total prize money.
