Vici Gaming just tweeted that they have engaged the services of Yao 'QQQ' Yi, of EHOME and DK fame as their coach, probably in preparation for the upcoming The International 2014.

Vici Gaming have officially engaged the services of Yao 'QQQ' Yi, former player of EHOME and DK. He is well known for being one of the oldest competitors in Dota 2, and was 27 at the time of his participation in The International 2012 with EHOME. He is well known for his support play, featuring micro-intense heros like Chen and Enchantress, although he has occassionally played in the offlane position over his career.

Known in the scene for his prowess during the WC3 Dota era, he was part of the legendary EHOME team that dominated everything in the pre-TI1 era. He participated in both TI1 and TI2 with EHOME, and later moved to team DK for TI3. He was eventually released after TI3 during the great Chinese shuffle of 2013, eventually finding a home with RisingStars. However, with the team disbanding after a failed stint with Meracle, he has been a free agent since, and has now found a home with Vici Gaming as coach.

Translation of the Vici Gaming tweet:

The Vici Gaming Esports Club has been training hard, and hopes to attain better results this year. With this goal in mind, we hereby announce that Dota legend Yao 'QQQ' Yi will be formally joining Vici Gaming Esports Club as the Dota 2 coach.

As the professional scene continues to grow, professional teams and infrastructure have become more mature. The position of coach has thus also received a lot of attention and focus. A coach raises both the professionalism of a team as well as individual skills; a coach is able to enhance innovation within the game, analyse competitive data, and to brief and debrief the teams before and after competitions to maximise their potential and takeaways from their matches.

As a legendary Dota competitor in both EHOME and DK, QQQ has achieved great results and he has a depth of experience in professional competition. His calm intellect and his unique understanding of Dota 2 will undoubtedly raise the standards of the Vici Gaming Dota 2 team. Thus, we hope that QQQ will be able to bring the Dota 2 team to greater heights in the future.

Coach Yao 'QQQ' Yi had this to say:
As a professional player who has competed for many years, I still love Dota 2 although I have retired. I hope to continue working in the professional Dota 2 scene. I am very honoured to join VG ESports Club today, and become part of the Vici family. VG are a team with substance and potential, and I hope to cooperate with the players to work hard, produce stellar results, and begin a dynasty.
