With a duration of over 100 minutes, the clash between Everlast.Gamefilling and First Departure for The Inaugural is now the longest game ever to be played in competitive DotA2. They broke the record of the match between DK in iG in The International 3.
It seems that records exist to be broken, and one more was shattered today for competitive DotA2. First Departure took on Everlast.Gamefilling for the second round of the Inaugural pre-qualifiers, and the two teams were able to drag the game extremely long. In fact, it lasted more than the second battle between iG and DK for the Upper Bracket of The International 3 playoffs. Thus, with a duration of 100 minutes and 47 seconds (1:40:47), the game between FD and Everlast is the longest game in the history of professional DotA2.
The game's obscene duration is the combined result of several factors. First Departure's lineup surely had the early game advantage on paper, but both the Ember Spirit and Tinker are quite unreliable when it comes to late game battles. On the other hand, Everlast's sloppy execution made it hard for them to breach FD's defense, despite the presence of Morphling and Nature's Prophet in their hero roster. Their main carry Morphling had to change his item build several times (he had a Dagon 5 on him at one point) to take down the Singaporeans. In the end, Ks's Ember Spirit could not deal enough damage despite the two Divine Rapiers in his inventory, and the victory went to Everlast.
The previous record belongs to Game Two of the best-of-three series between iG and DK for the Upper Bracket of The International 3 with a duration of 98 minutes and 58 seconds (1:38:58). In turn, the two Chinese giants stole the record from two European teams, Mousesports and Fnatic, with their third game for the Lower Bracket of Corsair Summer Cup lasting for 96 minutes and 26 seconds (1:36:26). The game between Mouz and Fnatic is also remembered as the "Armageddon" game, as the map got bugged and several random animations started appearing all around the battlefield.
