Nexon has announced further details of cooperation with Valve for strengthening Dota 2 in South Korea. Biggest part is a number of tournaments with 1.77 million US-Dollars.
In a press conference at E3 in Los Angeles, CA, Valve's Korean partner Nexon has announced details about his partnership. Nexon will host multiple Dota 2 tournaments in South Korea, featuring a total prize money of 2 billion Won, which is approximately $1.77 million US Dollars. No information about the time frame for distributing this amount has been specified.
The first of these tournaments will be the Nexon Starter League, already with a prize money of 10 million Won, around $9,000. The winning team of this tournament will fly to The International in Seattle as part of the audience.
South Korean players will also be able to join Dota 2 in Korea through Steam, but also through Nexon ID logins. Nexon's portal services are expected to start in Fall 13 with a beta phase before that.
