Muffin Lightning to use stand-in at ESEA Season 23 Global Challenge

Muffin Lightning will use Diane "di^" Tran in the ESEA Season 23 Global Challenge, after their fifth does not show up at the event.

Muffin Lightning experienced quite a scare on the cuff of the ESEA Season 23 Global Challenge, which takes place in Burbank, California, when they learned that one of their members, Jack “arKimonday” Kastner, elected to not attend the event, leaving the team scrambling to find a valid substitute. Muffin Lightning are one of two replacement teams for BigGods and VG.CyberZen, who were invited to the event, but could not attend due to visa issues preventing them from entering the country.

ESEA has attempted to accommodate Muffin Lightning to the best of their ability; arKimonday was given a lengthy 100-year ban, and they allowed the team to acquire a stand-in so that they could still participate, as four of their players had already checked into their hotel. Due to the nature of the event, no current professionals or players that participated in ESEA Premier last season were allowed to fill in, and therefore, Muffin Lightning selected Los Angeles local Diane “di^” Tran of CLG Red, to act as the substitute for the tournament.

Samuel “SileNt3m” Portillo provided an explanation regarding the issue, and how the team was managing:

Muffin Lightning’s ESEA Season 23 Global Challenge lineup will be:

United States Samuel “SileNt3m” Portillo
United States Joshua “sancz” Ballenger
United States Adam “aKis” Kisseberth
United States Ryan “ichibaNNN” Colucci
United States Diane “di^” Tran

The action at ESEA Season 23 Global Challenge starts today, January 5th, in Burbank, California. For more information regarding the event, including a schedule of competition, check out our coverage.
