Swedish CS:GO team ESG!, formerly known as SK Gaming, has recently announced that their players will be parting ways due to internal conflicts and performance issues. Despite their disbandment, at least three players of their roster will continue to play with standins for Starladder.
Team ESG! announced earlier today that they will be disbanding for several reasons. Originally picked up by SK Gaming in May, their lineup was led by Faruk 'pita' Pita. In the short time they carried the SK banner, they managed to place 5-8th at Dreamhack, upsetting defending champion fnatic.
However, pita announced shortly after that he would be retiring from the team, a move that left them paralyzed for some time. Despite attempting to fill the void, everything went south from there as SK Gaming dropped their sponsorship and ESG! was unable to reclaim their lost momentum, as evidenced by their mediocre performance at G3.
Mikail "Maikelele" Bill stated earlier today:
"We had a relatively high upward curve when we played with Pita during Dreamhack and little later, but as soon Faruk got his job and stepped down so it was that people in the team became lost and we did not know quite how to handle it...It is sad that this happens when we really had potential, but the spark was unfortunately not.... I want to thank everyone in the team and all of our fans out there who actually cheered for us. Unfortunately I can not say what will happen with the remaining guys on the team but I myself will play on and still go on to be the best.
ESG! will continue to play for Starladder with two stand-ins. As it right now, their current roster is below:
Mikail "Maikelele" Bill
Marcus "Delpan" Larsson
Fredrik "Roque" Honak
