ZETA Division took the last ticket to VCT Champions 2023 for the Pacific region.
ZETA Division punched their ticket to VCT Champions 2023 after a 3-1 win against Team Secret. The grand finals of VCT Last Chance Qualifiers Pacific 2023 saw a rematch against Team Secret and ZETA Division. The two teams duked it out at the Upper Bracket Finals and ZETA dominated the Filipino team.
Team Secret eliminated Gen.G Esports at the Lower Bracket Finals for this rematch. However, ZETA proved that they are the better team once again.
ZETA chose Fracture and Split while Team Secret picked Ascent and Lotus for the grand finals matchup.
In Game 1, the matchup was pretty close between the two Pacific powerhouses. Zeta chalked up seven out of twelve rounds during the first half but Team Secret answered back in the second half and pushed the game to overtime. ZETA did not mind the extended game as they won the two rounds needed to close the map.
Team Secret showcased well-executed hits at Ascent, a map they picked. Although ZETA showed some strategic plays of their own, Team Secret stood their ground. The second game ended with a 13-9 score in favor of Team Secret.
ZETA asserted their dominance during the third game of the VCT Last Chance Qualifier. Split was indeed ZETA’s territory as they showed early aggression and scored six back-to-back rounds.
Team Secret struggled to engineer a comeback and their team composition did not work out as planned. The first half of the game was a lightweight for ZETA with a 10-2 score. Team Secret tried to hold them back but the Japanese team already built the momentum to close the game.
After a few inopportune moments for Team Secret, ZETA took a step closer to their VCT Champions ticket. Game 4 was all ZETA needed to close the series and take the crown. The Japanese team were really dialed in and found great value in Koji "Laz" Ushida’s Chamber.
They managed to burn a lot of utilities from Team Secret before striking down the enemies' defenses. Team Secret seemed to find their footing as they took significant round wins. This was not enough to tie up the scoreboard.
During the second half, the game got farther away from the hands of Team Secret. ZETA sent the enemies packing with back-to-back round wins. The Japanese team successfully took the last VCT Champions slot for the Pacific region.
Although the players showed individual prowess, the performance of Laz was the most commended. He was hailed as the grand finals MVP for his impressive plays.
Once again, ZETA will represent Japan in the international VALORANT stage. VCT Champions 2023 will start on August 6 with three more spots remaining for EMEA and Americas.
