MixUp’s Seagull shows amazing decision, insane play and a look inside MixUp's team communications in the latest video uploaded to his A_Seagull YouTube channel.
It’s rare to see a glimpse into the communications of professional players, but Seagull’s video does just that. A competitive player and highly popular streamer, Seagull has been playing competitively since he got access to the beta. But throughout all that time, we haven’t been able to get a glimpse of what’s happening during comms. This video gives that opportunity, while also demonstrating the decision making and insane play of the MVP of what is arguably the greatest game of Overwatch played so far.

It’s the semi-finals of the 8th GosuGamers North American Weekly. Cloud 9 and MixUp are going head to head. The winner gets to go onto the finals to face up against the current #2 Overwatch team, EnvyUs. Every game matters. Lijang Tower is drafted, a King of the Hill map. Both teams battle it out up to the rarely seen point 3. Cloud 9 dominates the early stages of the round, completely blocking Cloud 9 from reaching the point. Once again MixUp is nearly fully wiped, save Seagull, who is playing Genji. The call is “die or stay alive”. Seagull decides to stay alive, hiding in the upper room of Nepal as the percentage on the point ticks closer and closer to 100%.
Cloud 9’s Symmetra enters the room, but Seagull is careful to hide and not be spotted. The typical player would have immediately tried to kill her, but Seagull is waiting for something important. The Symmetra places the teleporter, and then leaves the room, all without realising Seagull is there. Immediately Seagull destroys the teleporter. This move singlehandedly wins Mixup the game. Seagull’s ability to know that the Symmetra will place the teleporter, and his willingness to risk being spotted and killed right when his team is about to make a huge push, shows amazing game sense and decision making. The fight breaks out on the point, and Cloud 9 pops Transcendence. Again, Seagull waits despite his team being picked off while it’s up. He knows that if he goes in while Transcendence is out he’ll die and they’ll lose the game, even though the percentage is nearly at 100% anyway. At the last possible point he jumps in with Dragon Blade, forces overtime, and almost singlehandedly wipes Cloud 9. Without a teleporter to take them back to the point quickly, MixUp is able to take the point with only 1% remaining for Cloud 9. This decision by Seagull, a huge risk but a highly calculated one, allowed MixUp to get back into the game and eventually go on to win it.
