Tonight the Diamond Division title for the seventh Cycle in HoN Tour will be handed out to either Absolute Legends or Stay Green - yesterday Do You Even Lift Bro claimed the Gold Title.
The Gold Division is not quite as prestigious as the coveted elite league that is called Diamond Division, but it is a good ground for young and emerging teams to showcase their talent. Teams like We Are Spies, Team Excellent and the new Clan Milk gained recognition through good performances in that league. It might be a springboard to greatness.
In the next to last installment of the league in Season 1 the team Do You Even Lift Bro claimed the prestigious title, a purse of $1,000 USD and 1,000 valuable points for the HoN Tour standings. Granted the team will not seriously content for one of the eleven spots that at least grant a chance to get a ticket to Las Vegas, but having a good placement in the standings never hurts.
On their path to the "Gold Medal" the team faced a lot of tough competitors with former Diamond Division teams like Have It, The Fire Rises and Justice League, in addition to Team Kagge with well-known player SeQuenSe as a captain. That stiff competition might also be the reason why the team can't post impressive numbers in terms of record, as most of their matches went the full distance. As a matter of fact the team never won a match without losing one single map. Still in pressure situation they kept their composure and powered through it.
The Grand Final they won against Justice League with 3-1, after going into the match with a 1-0 lead. That means that they won all their Gold Division matches of the cycle with exactly 2-1 - a combined record of 12-6 in six matches. Still they will enter the last Cycle of Diamond Division competition as the reigning Gold Champion.
Moving along with the team is Justice League (former QsQ777), The Fire Rises and Have It. For the first time in HoN Tour history all four teams that will get promoted already spend some time in the big leagues. QsQ777 was there from the start through a strong outing in the Qualifiers, The Fire Rises took over the spot of Domain of Pain in Cycle 6. Have It actually earned the promotion in the fifth Cycle, but got immediately dropped again in Cycle 6. As for Do You Even Lift Bro, they were among the first four teams that ever got promoted into the Premier League of Heroes of Newerth.
